Rochester, N.Y. (WHAM) - Comedian Mike Birbiglia has been announced as the headlining comedian for the 2019 KeyBank Rochester Fringe Festival in September.
Organizers behind the festival made the announcement Tuesday morning.
The performance is scheduled for Friday, September 20 at 7:30 p.m. in Kodak Hall at Eastman Theatre.
Birbiglia has been a storyteller, actor and comedian for decades, and has most recently delved into directing. His one-man-show The New One was highly praised on Broadway and is headed for a national tour.
"I have long been an admirer of Mike Birbiglia's brand of observational comedy and I'm absolutely thrilled to announce Birbigs as our 2019 comedy headliner," says Festival Producer Erica Fee.
The KeyBank Rochester Fringe Festival has brought big-name comedians to headline the festival for the last few years. John Mulaney, Eddie Izzard and Patton Oswald are a few of the headlining performers in years past.
Ticket prices start at $29 and are scheduled to go on sale on Thursday, June 6 at 10 a.m. Purchases can be made online here and at the Eastman Theatre Box Office both online and in person at 433 East Main Street.
This year's Rochester Fringe Festival will go from 11 days in 2018 to 12 days this year. More than 78,000 people attended the festival in 2018 as well.
