Rochester, N.Y. (WHAM) - On the first weekend of the 2019 KeyBank Rochester Fringe Festival, a French street theatre company will make its return to downtown Rochester with its giant inflatable puppets.
Plasticiens Volants will have two performances of its new show Pearl: Secrets of the Sea on September 13 and 14.
The shows start at 8 p.m. and transform public spaces into a giant aquarium. A 60-foot-whale will be among the creatures floating down Chestnut and Main Streets. People watching the show will be treated to inflatable puppets of a sea serpent and an octopus.
This marks the second year at the Rochester Fringe Festival for Plasticiens Volants.
“Street theater is an excellent way to bond a community and we are proud to help support this project," said Cultural Attaché Laurent Clavel, head of the Visual & Performing Arts Department in Cultural Services of the French Embassy.
There are more than 570 performances at more than 20 venues in Rochester for the 12-day festival.
The festival is slated to run from September 10-21.
