Rochester, N.Y. (WHAM) - A fifth grade teacher in Rochester was honored Tuesday for his work in bringing the theatre into the classroom.
Jason Ford, who teaches at Francis Parker School No. 23, was given the 2017 League Educator Apple Award. The award acknowledges the efforts of local teachers who support programs relating to Broadway or touring Broadway shows and promotes further development of theatre education.
"Theatre is inclusive," Ford said. "This award is a great reminder of what it means to be a friend."
For the last several years, Ford has collaborated with the Rochester Broadway Theatre League to incorporate seven touring productions into his classroom.
