7 charged in prostitution sting in Canandaigua

Canandaigua, N.Y. (WHAM) - Seven people were arrested in a multi-jurisdictional prostitution operation last week in Canandaigua.

Canandaigua Police and the Ontario County Sheriff's Office worked together to arrest six men and one woman on February 1 and 2.

The following men and women were arrested and charged with patronizing a prostitute 3rd:

  • James White, 39, of Lyons
  • Eric Wild, 29, of Alden
  • Robert Cox, 34, of Rochester
  • Thomas Everetts, 51, of Livonia
  • Carrie Magee, 39, of Bellona
  • Christopher Simmons, 32, of Bellona
  • Benjamin McMinn, 32, of Penn Yan

Investigators said White, Wild, Cox and Everetts each offered a woman cash in exchange for sex in separate occasions. All four were arrested at different times.

Canandaigua Police said Wild ran from them and physically resisted when being taken into custody.

Deputies said Simmons, Magee and McMinn approached a woman as a group and offered her cash in exchange for group sex.

During the arrest process, Magee was found to have cocaine and was additionally charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance 7th.

All seven people were given appearance tickets for Canandaigua Town Court at a later date.
