Rochester, N.Y. (WHAM) - For more than three decades, a holiday tradition has carried on in Rochester.
Foodlink served a pre-Thanksgiving meal to people in need in our community Friday at the Montgomery Neighborhood Center on Cady Street.
The meal was, in part, thanks to Rosa Wims - also known as 'Mother Wims.'
The 94-year-old woman served alongside other volunteers, giving people turkey with all of the trimmings. After preparing everything for so many years, Wims says she isn't able to handle all of it herself.
"I'd like to go four more years...I'm praying because I'm turning it over to Foodlink," Wims said. "I am confident that they will keep it going."
Many of the side dishes are prepared by Foodlink's Community Kitchen, while the turkeys are donated by Palmer Food Services.
This is the 32nd year the meal has been available to people in the Rochester community.
