Warsaw, N.Y. (WHAM) - A Dansville man who gained a following on social media after his arrest for allegedly raping a child and other sex crimes has pleaded guilty to rape.
Lance Riley pleaded guilty on Friday to first-degree rape in Wyoming County Court.
Riley admitted to forcibly raping the child and strangling them during that process.
Riley agreed to a ten-year prison determinate sentence, which means it is not subject to review by a parole board or other agency. This sentence will be followed by 18 years of post-release supervision. As part of the sentencing, Riley will be required to register as a sex offender upon his release.
A sentencing hearing is scheduled for April 12 at 9:30 a.m.
“This plea is a complete vindication for the victim," said District Attorney Donald O’Geen. "Her courage of coming forward is unmatched. For months she has been under attack from members of the defendant’s family with the use of the media, social media, written letters and the “Free Lance Riley” facebook page. Those days are forever gone with his admission in court on Friday. ”
More charges are pending in Livingston County as part of this case. He's facing charges of rape and incest, among other charges, in Livingston County.
