(WHAM) - A Rochester-area photographer is taking the time to document this important time in world history by focusing on families - and their porches.

The Quarantine Porch Portrait Documentary Series is being shot and compiled by Jess Kamens, who runs Jess Kamens Photography.

Kamens is capturing people at home - the one place where their entire lives reside. From funny pictures to somber ones to emotional portraits, she has brought a lot of experiences in Rochester together.

The idea started as a way for Kamens to continue photographing and turned into a way to help people who are in the same situation.

"We all are feeling a certain level of stress and a certain level of feeling cooped in and bringing a little joy to everyone's faces is just really amazing," Kamens said. "It's a side effect that I didn't realize just how strong it would be."

Kamens practices social distancing and takes her photographs from across the street.

Sessions with Kamens are free and she is currently accepting applications. Anyone interested can find her work and contact information on her website.
