Old Forge, N.Y. (WHAM) - Enchanted Forest Water Safari will be expanding its water park in the next year.
Empire State Development announced Friday that the theme park will be adding three new water slides, due to a grant from the Upstate Revitalization Initiative. Two older slides - Killermanjaro and Serengeti Surf Hill - will be replaced during the construction.
Work is expected to begin in September on the three new water slides. Serengeti Surf Hill will be replaced by a four-lane, 300-foot mat slide with loops. A 200-foot speed slide with a drop launch pad is planned to replace the Killermanjaro slide. A third new slide that is 295 feet long will also be constructed with loops and a drop launchpad.
The water pumps and filtration equipment will also be rebuilt and overhauled.
Hundreds of thousands of visitors head to the water and amusement park each year to ride the water slides and other rides.
The park is ranked 4th in the U.S. among TripAdvisor’s 2019 “Traveler’s Choice” List for Best Water Parks.
Construction is expected to be completed by June 2020.
