Rochester, N.Y. (WHAM) - Several families in the Rochester area celebrated Thanksgiving a day early with a special feast.
The Golisano Autism Center hosted two Charlie Brown-themed events on Wednesday.
Since many of the children at the center have special dietary needs, workers at the center said they wanted to make sure they still enjoyed the holiday. As a result, the food theme was the same menu as the one on A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving: jelly beans, pretzels, popcorn and toast.
"We have so many different kids on so many different dietary restrictions, so we really wanted to make it a fun thing for them and an opportunity that they can participate in without those restrictions," said Diane Kozar, vice president of children and clinical services with CP Rochester and Happiness House. "They've certainly tried everything and that's what we wanted!"
Golisano Autism Center just opened in September and is located on Science Parkway, off of South Avenue. It offers recreational, medical, and educational services for children and adults with autism all under one roof.
