(WHAM) - Demolition has begun on the former Joe’s Crab Shack in Henrietta to build a new Chick-fil-A restaurant.

The site of the southern fast food chain will be located in the area of Marketplace Drive and Jefferson Road.

The demolition permit was approved within the last two weeks; fencing was already set up earlier this month ahead of the demolition process.

The town is looking to prevent traffic tie-ups similar to those seen after Chick-fil-a opened its first local restaurant in Greece. One of the key benchmarks in the approval process was the addition of a green arrow signal at the intersection of Jefferson and Marketplace.

Developers had reportedly aiming for the restaurant to be opened by late August or early September. There is no word yet on whether the coronavirus pandemic has influenced that date.
