Hilton/Irondequoit, N.Y. (WHAM) - Kitryna Carey says she has maybe bought ten lottery tickets in her lifetime.

But the 20-year-old woman from Hilton decided to buy a Hold 'Em Poker scratch-off ticket while at Herrema's Market on Pattonwood Drive in Irondequoit on Saturday. It turned out to be a $1 million winner.

On Tuesday morning, the New York State Lottery held a news conference to share the news of her big win.

“I had five dollars in my pocket so I took a chance on a scratch-off ticket,” Carey said. “I still can’t believe I won!”

Carey opted to take a one-time lump-sum payment, which amounts to $537,440 after taxes.

Carey said that she wants to pay for her college education, but also pay off her parents' mortgage and take them on a family vacation to Disney World.

A new pickup truck for Carey's mother is also among her plans.

Carey said she is currently attending a community college, but wants to attend SUNY ESF Ranger School.
