(WHAM) - Looters stole more than $20,000 worth of merchandise from a family-owned liquor store in Rochester on Saturday night.

Euphoria Liquor Store on East Main Street has been in the same family for more than 40 years. On the night that riots and looting broke out after a peaceful protest against racial injustice, a group of people smashed in the window to the store and took thousands of dollars of liquor.

The owner, Carl Fantauzzo, Jr., said he has never seen anything like this.

"It was trashed," Fantauzzo said. "They just kicked in the front window. They started grabbing half pints of liquor, they went into the back room, carrying out full cases - and it was two separate waves."

The video shows about 20 people stealing from Fantauzzo's store. Fantauzzo said he and some friends stood guard all night protecting what remained.

Euphoria is now boarded up - "like Fort Knox", according to Fantauzzo - and he hopes that no one comes back.

If you recognize anyone in the video, you are asked to call Crime Stoppers at 423-9300.
