Romulus, N.Y. (WHAM) - A man from Romulus was killed Tuesday afternoon after a box truck in which he was riding flipped over in a crash.

Seneca County Sheriff's deputies said they were called to the scene of a crash on Route 96 in Romulus around 4:35 p.m.

When deputies arrived on scene, they found a box truck had gone off the east side of the road and flipped over in a ditch.

Deputies said the driver was treated at the scene of the crash. The passenger in the crash, 19-year-old Enos Hertzler, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators are working to determine the cause of the crash, as it is unclear how the truck went off the road. Drugs and alcohol do not appear to be factors.

Members of the New York State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement assisted at the crash scene, along with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, South Seneca Ambulance, Life Net, Romulus Fire, Varick Fire, Ovid Fire and Fayette Fire Departments.
