(WHAM) - Two people were taken to the hospital after a concrete slab fell while construction work was underway at a parking garage in Rochester.
Firefighters with the Rochester Fire Department were called to the eighth floor of the South Ave Parking Garage around 10:45 a.m.
According to first responders on scene, a worker was using a jackhammer when the slab fell on him. Other workers were able to partially lift up the slab using a forklift, but the man was still trapped underneath.
Firefighters were able to lift the slab off of the man and get him to an ambulance.
The worker was taken to the hospital to be treated for his injuries.
Firefighters said the slab falling was due to construction work, not anything structural with the garage itself.
They say a second worker was also hurt in the collapse and was taken to the hospital. The worker's injuries were not life-threatening.
