Rochester, N.Y. (WHAM) - Three students from Monroe Community College were awarded scholarships Thursday.
The students are pursuing careers to help people in their time of need.
Rochester area Crime Stoppers presented each student with a first-of-its-kind annual scholarship for first responders. The scholarship is for $1,000.
The winning students - Diana Pabon, Kyle De Vos, and James Gorski - are pursuing careers in law and criminal justice, fire protection technology, and emergency medical services, respectively.
“This is a true ‘first responders’ scholarship,” said John M Merklinger, Director of the Monroe County Emergency Communications Department. “I am especially excited to see a scholarship for Emergency Medical Technicians. There is no greater calling than to assist others in their time of need.”
