(WHAM) - Winter sports deemed to be 'high risk' by state officials have been pushed back to a January 4, 2021 start date.

This comes as the number of COVID-19 cases continue to increase throughout New York state.

Those high risk sports include basketball, hockey, wrestling and competitive cheerleading.

Low and moderate risk sports - which are listed as bowling, indoor track & field, gymnastics, swimming & diving, and skiing, are still on schedule to begin November 30.
