Passenger killed, 2 others injured in Wayne County crash

(WHAM) - One man is dead and two other people were injured in a crash late Sunday night in Galen, Wayne County.

Wayne County Sheriff's deputies said they were called to the scene of a one-car crash around 10:40 p.m. on State Route 31 in Clyde.

Deputies arrived on scene and found 19-year-old Gregory Bailey, 18-year-old Jenna Carnevale, and 30-year-old David Fischette Jr. at the scene.

According to deputies, Bailey was driving west on Rt. 31 with Carnevale and Fischette as passengers when he lost control of the car, went off the road, and slammed into a tree.

Fischette was pronounced dead at the scene. Carnevale was airlifted to Strong Memorial Hospital via LifeNet helicopter. Bailey was treated on scene for his injuries; no word on his condition.

The Clyde and Savannah Fire Departments worked with Eastern Wayne Ambulance and Wayne County Advanced Life Support in the crash.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
