Sodus, N.Y. (WHAM) - One of the three people charged in connection to the murders of a Sodus couple last month had her case moved up to a grand jury.

During a hearing in Sodus Town Court Thursday morning, Charlene Childers faced conspiracy and weapons charges.

Before the shootings, Childers had just lost custody of her two children to Joshua Niles, who was their father. Niles and Amber Washburn, Niles' fiancee, were shot and killed in front of their home in Sodus on October 22. Investigators believe Childers' current husband, Timothy Dean, was the one who pulled the trigger in the shootings.

Wayne County Sheriff's investigators say Childers was in Texas at the time of the shootings. However, they allege that Childers conspired with Dean to kill the two. A third person, Bron Bohlar, is also accused of conspiring with the couple in the plot.

Dean was the police chief for the town of Sunray, Texas. Bohler was a police officer in the department. Both are currently awaiting extradition from a jail in Texas to Wayne County.
