Rochester, N.Y. (WHAM) - In honor of the fallen firefighters who died on September 11, 2001, a recruit in the Rochester area decided to pay tribute in a unique way.

Sydney Carfi is a recruit with the Lake Shore Fire Department.

On Wednesday morning, Carfi went to a local gym, got into turnout gear, and got onto the stair climbing machine and began to walk up 110 floors.

In a statement posted to the Lake Shore Fire Department Facebook page, Carfi called the climb "the most humbling thing I’ve ever done."
