(WHAM) - After spending 25 years with the Spencerport Central School District, Dan Milgate will be stepping down from leading the schools.
Milgate, who currently serves as the district's superintendent, announced Wednesday that he plans to retire in January 2021.
The school board selected Milgate in May 2017 to take over for Michael Crumb. Previously, he had served as the assistant superintendent for schools since July 2011.
Milgate has been the district's superintendent since 2017.
“I want to focus on the next chapter with my family,” Milgate said in an emailed statement, adding that he would be available to help the next person chosen to lead the district through a transition period.
The Spencerport Board of Education will begin searching for a new superintendent over the next few weeks.
