Honeoye Falls, N.Y. (WHAM) - A manufacturing plant in Honeoye Falls is slated to close for economic reasons this fall.
Branson Ultrasonics Corporation is scheduled to close its facility on Quaker Meeting House Road.
Approximately 47 workers will be affected by the closing. Of those, 19 hourly production employees and 26 salaried employees will be affected, mainly in variety of administrative and general business positions.
Branson manufactures welding and soldering equipment for businesses around the world. The company welds plastics using lasers, vibration technologies and hot plate tooling.
Layoffs will be conducted in three phases, running from April to September.
Dave Baldridge, a spokesperson for Emerson, Branson Ultrasonics' parent company, said the decision to close the plant is not a reflection on the quality of work by the employees.
"Closing the Honeoye Falls plant was necessary to better align our operations to serve our customers in the competitive market for our state-of-the-art plastic joining, metal welding and precision cleaning technologies.
The final closing date for the plant is slated for September 30.
