AUGUSTA, Maine (WGME) – Christmas may be over, but people are still in the spirit of giving.
Miracle Ear, a hearing aid company in Augusta, is changing a man's life.
Michael Heath is entering the new year with better ears.
"It feels good that I should be able to hear," Heath said.
But Michael’s life-changing moment came at five years old, when he says a gun was fired too close to his head.
Suffering from almost complete noise-induced hearing loss, his family searched for help, one doctor after another. For nearly 15 years, he wore the same hearing aids.
"They were hurting my ears so bad that I didn't want to wear them,” Heath said. “I would walk around not knowing a thing, not be able to say anything because I couldn't hear.”
That all changes, thanks to Miracle Ear, a hearing aid company gifting Michael with brand new hearing aids. A family friend shared Michael's story, and Miracle Ear was willing to help him out.
